PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Desert Map Looks Like It's Nearly Ready to Launch

With the release of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ 1.0 update on PC looming on the nebulous horizon, and the Xbox One version incoming very soon, many players have been expectantly awaiting the arrival of some of the game’s final launch content. Vaulting, killcams and changes to the physics engine are already being tested on the game’s PTR, but information on the game’s upcoming desert map has been sparse until recently.

Thanks to a Reddit dataminer by the fantastic name BizzFarts, we now have probably the best look yet at the layout of the upcoming map, complete with an updated list of area names. Unfortunately, the area of the map previously labelled “Murderland” has been renamed the far less interesting Santa Domingo.

BizzFarts also found images of a Winchester 1894 (a lever-action rifle), a Rhino (revolver) and double-barrel shotgun when datamining. It’s unclear if these weapons will be part of the desert map when it launches.

The Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is due to release via Game Preview on December 12th, while the 1.0 update on PC is expected, alongside the new desert map, before the end of December.
