Joe Paterno dies of Lung Cancer

Joe Paterno, the former Penn State Coach is no more….!! He was in critical condition and died of Lung Cancer yesterday at 9:25 a.m. at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, Pennsylvania.  He was diagnosed with Lung cancer in November 2011, just few days after being dismissed by school officials because of engaged in Child Sex abuse scandal.

He was an outstanding coach with favorable capabilities who set a wonderful record by collecting 409 wins and two National Championships in his 46 years run as a football coach. He coached five undefeated teams that won major bowl games and in 2007 as a coach, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

On talking about Paterno’s successful career, Tom Osborne, University of Nebraska Athletic Director said that his longevity over time and his impact on college football is remarkable. Osborne continued, “Anybody who knew Joe feels badly about the circumstances. I suspect the emotional turmoil of the last few weeks might have played into it.”

Tom Corbett, the Pennsylvania Governor said of Paterno that his legacy as the winningest coach in major college football and his generosity to Penn State as an institution and to his players, stand as monuments to his life and his place in their state’s history is secure.
