On Saturday Night, the clear sky presented a charming scene to North Texans by viewing the super “Perigee” Moon. The super-sized moon swung into view over Dallas Fort Worth as the full moon appeared was 14 % larger and 30 % brighter than the normal.
This is happened when lunar orbit brought the moon so close to the earth. Levent Gurdemir explained the wonderful scene by saying that it looks spectacular.
According to NASA, the moon has an elliptical orbit around the Earth; when the moon seems smaller and more distant, it’s on the farthest side (apogee) of its orbit, while the perigee side is about 31,000 miles closer to Earth.
