Mandela in hospital, expected to go home soon

Former South African president Nelson Mandela was hospitalized for his abdominal pain.  Now after undergoing a diagnostic procedure, he is expected to go home very soon. Mandela is 93 years old.

He is expected to go home back on Sunday or Monday.

A statement made by President Jacob Zuma said, “Madiba is fine and fully conscious and the doctors are satisfied with his condition, which they say is consistent with his age.”

“He was in good health before admission in hospital but doctors felt the complaint needed a thorough investigation.”

“We are happy that he is not in any danger and thank the doctors for their hard work and professionalism.”

He was not hospitalized in emergency, it was planned. From last year, Mandela’s health is going down. Since that he has not appeared in Public. He has spent his time at his home in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs and his ancestral village of Qunu in the impoverished Eastern Cape.

Mandela was the first South African president to be elected in a fully representative democratic election. State Bank of South Africa has issued notes bearing Mandela’s image.
