Amile Jefferson signs with Duke; Arizona adds 3 transfers

Amile Jefferson is in news because of his contract with Duke. Yup, he has signed with Duke. According to the school officials, that Jefferson signed his letter of intent to play for the Blue Devils this fall. Mike Krzyzewski said that Jefferson is “a perfect young man for Duke University”.

Jefferson holds a wonderful record of average of 19.9 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 steals as a senior for Friends’ Central School in Philadelphia.

He is a 6-foot-7, 190-pound power forward. An announcement was made by the school that guards Mark Lyons and T.J. McConnell, and forward Matt Korcheck signed to play for the school.

On talking about this, Jefferson said, “I definitely wanted to take a look at the school and Duke is a once in a lifetime opportunity and something you don’t pass up on.”

Jennie Garth Cries on Talking Show Talking about Divorce

While talking about her divorce from Peter Facinelli on a reality Show, Jennie Garth burst into tears. She didn’t hold back her tears while discussing this serious issue.

Her therapist asked her that what was the prominent feeling she has after her marriage crumbles down, Garth admitted, “Obviously sadness. Anger – a lot of anger. She continued to say “I think with any sort of rejection, you’re angry that you weren’t enough for that person. So I don’t know if I’m angry at myself for not being enough, or if I’m angry at him for not considering me to be enough.”

While wiping out her rolling tears, Garth said that it’s weird and sad, but she really realized through this whole experience how much she loved him, how deeply she loved him and how deeply she loved them.

Peter Facinelli filed for divorce from Jennie Garth after 11 years of marriage in March. The couple has three daughters.

There is a piece of news regarding a site, “Avery’s Bucket List Blog” that aims to spread awareness about Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Actually, a new born baby is suffering from this Atrophy which inspired her parents to start a blog in order to spread awareness of Avery’s illness.

It is reported by Avery’s doctors that the 5-month-old baby has only 18 months to live. On talking about this, Avery’s parents said in a statement on blog, “Imagine you’ve been diagnosed with an incurable genetic disease and you are told you will not only lose your ability to walk and move your arms, but you will die between now and the next 18 months. What would you do?”                                                Quite miserable…!!

According to National Library of Medicine, Spinal Muscular Atrophy occurs in three different types. It is a genetic disease which comes from a defective gene in both parents and attacks Nerve Cells in Spine. It affects four out of every hundred thousand people.

On talking about the treatment of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, SMA Foundation said that there is no cure for the disease, but new therapeutics have entered clinical trials or are approaching trials in the near future.

Barbie Dolls are one of the all time favorite choices of baby girls. There is a surprising piece of news that a real Barbie is said to be came in view. Wow quite interesting….!! But the question arises that is it fake or flawless?

It is reported that a Ukrainian woman is sporting the plastic looks of a beautiful Barbie doll. However, she is under scrutiny about whether her appearance is real or fake? Her name is Valeria Lukyanova and she is 21 years old.

Actually, she has posted 100s of images on her FB pages that raised her to fame. It also makes her appear to be having every curve as flawless as the childhood doll.

According to ABC News, if she is real and doesn’t use Photoshop, she is likely the product of multiple plastic surgeries.

On talking about this, the President of American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Malcolm Roth told ABC News that plastic surgery should never be used to transform oneself into a favorite celebrity or, in this case, a play toy. Roth said in a statement that Valeria is also only 21, so certain milestones in growth and physical maturity ought to be considered before plastic surgery is performed.

Moreover, a Professor of Education at Wheelock College in Boston, Diane Levin said to ABC News that the mystery of her existence is not the issue. Levin says her flaunted image epitomizes and exemplifies the issue of objectification of women in today’s society.

Robin Gibb’s Coma Recovery Not so Unusual

?Robin Gibb, the Bee Gees Star is suffering from Colorectal Cancer. His doctor told yesterday that Robin Gibb has colorectal cancer and remains in ICU, Intensive Care Unit after waking from Coma.

It is reported by Dr. Andrew Thillainayagam that Gibb was being treated for advanced Colorectal Cancer and had caught Pneumonia as he was weakened from grueling doses of chemotherapy and two operations. He fell into Coma last week after contracting the pneumonia.

According to Dr. Andrew Thillainayagam, Gibb is still in ICU and is “exhausted, extremely weak and malnourished.” He is using an oxygen mask to breathe and needs intravenous feeding and antibiotics. Thillainayagam said that he had warned Gibb’s family three days ago that he may not wake up. However, Gibb is now fully conscious and able to speak.

On talking about Gibbs recent health updates, Dr. Andrew Thillainayagam said in a statement that it is testament to Robin’s extraordinary courage, iron will and deep reserves of physical strength that he has overcome quite incredible odds to get where he is now.

Thomas Beatie, the female-to-male transgender, is in news because of his separation from his wife. It is reported by People Magazine that Thomas Beatie, who caused controversy in 2007 when he became pregnant, has separated from his wife of nine years.

According to the People Magazine, Beatie said in a show, “Like all marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we’re going through a rough patch right now. At the moment, we’re separated.” The separation was announced by Beatie during a taping of CBS.

The couple has three children, daughter Susan and sons Austin and Jensen.

As far as Beatie’s introduction is concerned, he was born female and named as Tracy Lagondino. He had sex-reassignment surgery in 2002 and legally changed from female to male in Hawaii.

Lyrid Meteor Shower Peaks Tonight

An eye-catching end to Earth Day…….Yup, a promising Meteor Show is going to hit its peak tonight. The annual Lyrid Meteor Shower predicted by NASA will offer an impressive sky show to observers with clear weather, in the absence of moon.

On talking about this, Bill Cooke, the Meteor Shower Expert of NASA told SPACE.com that the moon is currently in its new phase, when the side facing Earth is not illuminated by the sun. It means that unlike last year, when bright moonlight washed out April’s annual “shooting stars” display, the 2012 Lyrid meteor shower could be a stand-out event, he continued.

Cooke said that the Lyrids are really unpredictable and he is expecting 15 to 20 Lyrid Meteors an hour.

Levon Helm, The True Voice Of America

Levon Helm, the well known inimitable singer, song writer as well as drummer passed away yesterday at the age of 71. He was in the wake of a long battle with Throat Cancer. He earned a lot of fame by working in a legendary rootsy rock group or said to be a Band that featured three extraordinary singers. But Levon’ voice had its own quality as he was the stern Southern Preacher.

Charles Pierce called him, “The True Voice of America” in a beautiful remembrance. On talking about the legendary personality of Levon Helm, he said, “I want to thank him for the way he sang, and for the throb of his drums, and for the way he helped point the way home for all of us who thought we’d lost our country. He was a rock instrumentalist, who is known for his deeply soulful, country-accented voice, and creative drumming style highlighted on many of the Band’s recordings, such as “The Weight“, “Up on Cripple Creek“, “Ophelia” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down“.

Israel marks Holocaust Remembrance Day

Today, it is celebrating Holocaust Rememberance Day on 19th April. People from all over the US and Israel marked the day by remembering the victims of Holocaust. This day is celebrated yearly on 19th April in order to memorize the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau death camps 67 years ago.

To celebrate the country’s Annual Holocaust Memorial Day, Israeli Leaders and Holocaust Survivors gathered today in Jerusalem. Holocaust Event is considered as a Central Event in Modern Jewish History as well as key to Israel’s Society.
Holocaust Memorial Day is a National event. At this day, The Israeli flag flies at half staff, poems are read and the Jewish prayer for the dead is recited.

Melissa Gilbert says she's doing OK after 'DWTS' Accident

While Melissa Gilbert performed on “Dancing with the Stars”, she was taken to the hospital Monday night. It is told by a Hollywood Reporter that Though she was able to finish her dance and speak with the judges after, she later told fellow dancers that she was feeling dizzy and lightheaded and as a precaution she’s gone to the hospital to get checked out, where she was treated for whiplash and a concussion.

After being treated she said in a statement on Twitter, “I’m alright. Mild concussion and whiplash. Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of.”

Melissa Gilbert, the actress of “The Little House on the Prairie” is partnering with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy now a day. During the show’s Rock Week, they danced to the White Stripes song “Conquest”.
